A few step beyond

Just like browsing through a ‘book of days’.
A little, more dazzling light in certain pages perused in depth.
One last, to some extent absolute revelation before time curved a few steps beyond.

Captured by the small recorder placed under the piano during his last concert
held at the Talos Festival in Ruvo di Puglia in September 2019, this retrieved music
hands over a pantheon of pristine figures that Gianni Lenoci displays as a playwright
tracing constellations.
The richest cartography, a map to consult from so many perspectives and get lost.

Due to the maturity which can travel consciously through the expanse of sound extending
dramatic prominence, and transfiguring themes, every single piece from this live performance
possesses a clearly visible multi-dimensional characteristic.
Often ineffable, articulate narrative led forth as in a sort of ultimate mesmerism.

One of the constant of Gianni’s aesthetics is represented by his extraordinary aptitude
to exert his wide-range and his specific insight simultaneously, and to find the possible
coexistence between far-off levels of sound. At times a perpendicular route, meant to reveal
stratification and distant meaningful settings.

Here goes his journey along with some his inspirational guiding lights: Ornette, Paul
and Carla Bley; classical themes sublimated in noir semi-darkness, meditative glimpses and
vertiginous articulation, or unexpected diversion.

Blessed hands, a few shadows on his heart, the fragrance of Gianni’s music and its profound
adherence to his chosen path have found their full dimension – brilliant and relentless
at the same time – in this five recording.

Petals abandoning a flower ruffled by the breeze.
A few steps beyond – as I was saying.
